Q: What is SMP?

A: Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a fast-growing hair loss solution. It’s an innovative procedure in the form of micro-tattooing where thousands of tiny pigment deposits are made in the epidermis of the scalp, each dot replicating an individual strand of shaven hair. When the SMP procedure is complete, it forms an illusion of a full head of shaven hair. Its natural appearance makes it hardly detectable. The result is instant and effective. It’s a non-surgical procedure, no pills, no potions.

Q: What kind of tools/material does Scalp Restore use to ensure the quality of SMP?

A: We use premium SMP pigment of the highest quality, free from harsh chemicals, to produce a variety of shades that closely mimic natural hair follicles. Needles we use are individually packaged, made of medical-grade materials, and disposed of after a single use to prioritise the health and safety of every client.

Q: Does SMP hurt?

A: Having gone through the SMP scalp micropigmentation procedure myself, I honestly think it doesn’t hurt. However, pain threshold varies from person to person, and it can be subjective. Some clients experience some discomfort in particular areas of thinner scalps and scar tissue. Therefore, we recommend our clients to moisturise their scalp to soften the skin every day for at least 3-4 days before the SMP procedure to ensure a painless experience.

Q: Are the SMP results permanent?

A: The results are permanent. Some clients prefer a touch-up every 3-4 years to keep their best look. Sometimes on some particular clients, the results can last longer. It all depends on the individual’s immune system and lifestyle. For example, someone who is not exposed to the sun frequently will be able to keep the colour longer. I’ve had a client whose SMP just started to fade after 9 years.

Q: Is SMP scalp micropigmentation the same as tattoo?

A: We understand sometimes people do call SMP by the name of “hair tattoo”. Technically, they are different. SMP scalp micropigmentation uses completely different equipment, needles and pigments which have no metal content, and it will not change colour. To perform SMP, the practitioner needs to be professionally trained and certified. Tattoo goes deep into the dermis, and sometimes it may cause bleeding. However, SMP scalp micropigmentation touches only the epidermis, which is the top layer of skin where there is no blood vessels or nerve endings are present.

Q: How long does the whole SMP procedure take?

A: Depending on the hair and skin condition, it will take up 2-3 sessions. Each session will take 3-5 hours as the pigment deposits will be meticulously put on the scalp, one drop at a time, with the shade that matches your skin tone to achieve the most natural look. The result is progressive, and it will unfold after each session. We understand it takes time and patience to sit through the procedure, but it is all worth it when you see the result.

Q: Is the consultation free?

A: Yes, absolutely. By click the button to “Book A Free Consultation”, we can arrange a video call, and if you need to further schedule an in-person visit for detailed consultation, that’s also possible. You can take time to consider your options and schedule an SMP treatment after.

Q: How much does scalp micropigmentation (SMP) cost?

A: The cost of the procedure varies depending on how much hair you’ve lost, and the requirements of your treatment. We will assess your hair condition during your free consultation and inform you of the cost. Our SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) services are reasonably priced, and we provide instant results with exceptional quality. To take advantage of additional discounts, keep an eye out for our promotional offers from time to time. Get in touch today.

Q: What is the arrangement for payment?

A: To secure your booking, we require a £100 non-refundable deposit which can be followed by 2 split payments over the 2 first two SMP sessions. However, most clients pay the balance upon the first treatment.
